For years, the Roscoe-Rockland Fire Department has been in need of a ladder truck. Now, thanks to the Southampton Village Fire Department, it has one.

The Southampton Fire Department recently decided to donate its 1972 Sutphen aerial platform truck to the Terry Farrell Foundation, an organization that helps firefighters and their families with educational, medical and equipment needs. The truck had “no usage—it was just sitting there being maintained,” Southampton Village Mayor Mark Epley said. So it made sense to part with the old truck and help out another volunteer department.

When Uniformed Firefighters Association of New York (UFA) Local 94 fire fighter Terry Farrell died in the line of duty on September 11, 2001, his five brothers — inspired to help other fire fighter families — created the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund in early 2002. Since then, the fund’s original mission to provide scholarships to children of New York fire fighters has been expanded to include relief for fire fighters in financial distress, donated apparatus and gear to needy fire departments and bone marrow collection drives…

This is the 2008 Suburban we were able to donate to the FDNY Family Transport through the generosity of Mr. Harvey Chaplin and the Southern Wine & Spirits Family. Thank you to them for all they have done and continue to do!

The Village of Northport Fire Department donated Engine 11, a 1977 pumper, to the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund.

This Tahoe was donated to the Fund on November 10, 2007 by the Jericho FD. We then donated it to the Degrasse FD in Canton, NY, along with a 2000 Ford LTD from the Hampton Bays FD. In the below photo are chiefs Ron Carlin & Gil Rivers of DeGrasse FD on 2/16/08.

This is the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund ambulance that was donated by the West Islip Fire District. Through the courtesy of the Wantagh FD Board of Fire Commissioners, it is currently being housed at Wantagh FD Station 6 along with the newly acquired Mack pumper from the Northport Fire Department.

The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund recently became a supporter of America Supports You, a Defense Department program connecting citizens and corporations with military personnel and their families serving at home and abroad.

“We support military unit members in many ways, (including) by donating to the Wounded Warrior Fund and the Marine Semper Fi Fund,” Farrell said. “We also give direct financial support to a servicemembers requesting and showing immediate need.”

Servicemembers in need of this type of assistance can apply directly through the fund’s Web site or by contacting one of the two organizations to which it contributes.
